British Water Ski & Wakeboard is the only recognised voice speaking for water skiing in the UK. Joining us is the best way of supporting the sport now and for the future. We are a non-profit making organisation with all of our income invested in developing and protecting water skiing throughout Britain from the grassroots level through to our top athletes. British Water Ski & Wakeboard is responsible for the development of the sport; co-ordination of national and international competition; selection of National teams; training and registration of coaches and officials; and increasing the opportunities for participation in water skiing for all residents of this country, including the disabled.
Our UKCC Level 2 Water Ski and Wakeboard coaching courses had been on hold since September 2011; now, thanks to the appointment of Sam Haslam as the Coaching and Training Programme Coordinator, these courses are back up and running. For upcoming course dates please visit the website or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Cutting Edge Programmes
Cutting Edge - Young People
Cutting Edge is our fantastic participation programme for young people; it offers young skiers and riders the chance to get into a water sport discipline, develop their skills and progress to competition level. It follows a step by step progression so it is easy to track how much you have improved since your last session and compared to your friends
Our programme has been designed by some of the world's best coaches, skiers and riders especially for young people who are new to the sport. It is free for all affiliated clubs and accredited sites to use in order to encourage and develop young people in the sport.
There are Cutting Edge awards available in a number of disciplines including tournament, boat and cable wakeboard, barefoot and kneeboard. An Inclusive Cutting Edge award has also been introduced for skiers and riders with learning and physical impairments.
There are 3 levels of award to work through - Bronze, Silver and Gold;
- Bronze - a generic award across all disciplines which shows you have a grasped the basics of water skiing and wakeboarding
- Silver - a discipline specific award which shows you have developed your basic skills and mastered a number of skills and tricks in your chosen discipline
- Gold - a discipline specific award which shows you have reached competition standard in your chosen discipline
If you have any questions about Cutting Edge or would like some more information, please email email@example.com
Cutting Edge - Inclusive
Cutting Edge Inclusive is our participation programme which has been specially designed for disabled people. It has 2 strands - one for young people with a learning disability and the other for young people with a physical impairment. The programme follows a step by step progression of skills which allows young people to learn to water ski or wakeboard at their own pace.

BWSW do have a playing programme for ClubMark but due to limited staff resources do not hold the licence. We look to CSPs to support clubs through the ClubMark process. Currently BWSW have been identifying clubs to complete ClubMark and introducing them to their local CSP. If however you wish to offer this directly to a club in your area please do. BWSW would appreciate it if you could let us know which clubs you are working with. Contact at BWSW Rachel Tallon - firstname.lastname@example.org or 01932 579 933
New Innovation - Straight Line Cables
Within the last few years technology in our sport has advanced and straight line cables have been introduced. These cable systems are ideal for beginners and training experienced riders without then need for a boat. This development means that our sport can be accessed on water we have been unable to use previously e.g.www.wakeupbrighton.co.uk. With 9 new sites accrediting to BWSW this season it's a fantastic development and ideal for running programmes like Sportivate. If you area has an existing water sports centre that is looking to diversify why not suggest it!
