Facilities and Clubs

NGBs can access assistance from Active Lancashire in a number of ways in terms of accessing facilities; support for clubs; insight/research to support facility bids and support with bid writing.

Facility Development and Funding Applications

We have offered clinics twice a year for partners who are interested in applying for Inspired Facilities funding. This has proved popular and will be available in again in 2015-16. In addition we will be providing other funding workshops to provide further support for partners.

Insight and Research

We can provide insight and research work to support partners in planning and bid writing. Our Insight Officer Debra Jones has conducted research for clubs, Local Authorities and National Governing Bodies on a needs-led basis. Feedback from partners is that this work has been really beneficial.

  • Example - Carr Hill Report. This report provides insight into a set catchment (20min drive time & 1.6km walk time) around Carr Hill High School and Sixth Form Centre, in order to support the schools ambitions to develop and build new community sports facilities on the school site.

Club Development

We can support club development through the promotion of Club Matters to clubs, the organisation of relevant workshops and mentoring support as required. Provision of subsidised training courses which can be held at club facilities and a small number of bursaries for coaches, as agreed with the relevant NGB are also available.

We can support with accessing facilities throughout Lancashire through partnership working. High School facility access is particularly supported through the Satellite Clubs lead, Fiona Callaghan. We are also able to link you with a range of partners – community groups; housing associations and health organisations to provide wider options for delivery.

Active Lancashire is an Accredited Clubmark Assessment provider and where required we are able to provide some guidance to clubs who commit to achieving the quality standard.

Our Coach Development Manager – Jayne Wilson is on hand to support NGBs priorities around coach development including recruitment, development and deployment.
