Celebrating an action-packed Ole Skool Sports Day at Witton Park in Blackburn!

On Monday 24th July, we witnessed an incredible display of teamwork, determination, and fun as 12 teams of 10 participants each came together for an unforgettable day of sports and camaraderie. The event was delivered by Active Lancashire's Challenge through Sport Initiative (CSI) team, with invaluable support from SPARK and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

The day was filled with excitement as participants engaged in a variety of activities, from the classic egg and spoon race and the sack race, to the precision of archery and the ultimate test of strength in the tug of war.

Challenge through Sport Initiative (CSI) is a bespoke behaviour change program designed to build resilience to substance misuse. It goes beyond physical activity to support those facing various challenges, including individuals dealing with mental health issues (especially Dual Diagnosis) and those in the Criminal Justice System. Not just limited to the participants, the program extends its impact to friends and families who play an essential role in the journey to recovery and well-being.

At the heart of this initiative are the dedicated mentors, a team of remarkable individuals who bring their lived experiences to inspire and guide the participants. Their empathy and understanding make all the difference, offering hope and support to those navigating difficult paths.

We extend our appreciation to everyone involved, from the organisers and mentors to the participants and their supporters. Let's continue to celebrate the power of sports and community in driving positive change!
