Empowering Lives Through Boxing: Active Lancashire's Partnership with Empire Fighting Chance

At Active Lancashire, our mission is to promote sport and physical activity throughout Lancashire, inspiring individuals to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Recently, a group of our dedicated staff and community partner, Lancashire Youth Challenge embarked on an exciting journey by attending the England Boxing Box Instructor Training with England Boxing, as part of a 12 month collaboration with Empire Fighting Chance. This collaboration marks a significant step towards our goal of embedding sport and physical activity into every aspect of everyday life.

As the strategic lead for Sport and Physical Activity in Lancashire, Active Lancashire plays a pivotal role in connecting with like-minded local organisations and individuals who share our passion for promoting active lifestyles. We firmly believe that sport and physical activity possess the power to transform behaviours and develop essential life skills, ultimately leading to a positive impact on people's lives.

To achieve our objectives, we strive to build and facilitate effective partnerships across the county. From key decision-makers to grassroots community organisations, we actively engage with various stakeholders to encourage Lancashire residents to embrace sport and physical activity as a means of leading happier and more prosperous lives.

One of the organisations we are proud to collaborate with is Empire Fighting Chance, a community Boxing club from Bristol. Their innovative approach combines non-contact boxing with intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people aged 8 to 25. By fusing boxing and psychology, Empire Fighting Chance creates a safe and nurturing environment where young individuals can trust their coaches and therapists. This powerful combination helps participants realize their unique potential, fostering personal growth and resilience.

Staff from our Challenge through Sport Initiative and Pendle Yes Hub projects, alongside Lancashire Youth Challenge recently participated in the Box Instructor Training session at Birch Green Boxing Club. This training equipped them with basic boxing skills and knowledge to deliver effective and engaging sessions that will positively impact the lives of young people in Lancashire. By integrating the principles of Empire Fighting Chance into our approaches, we are confident in our ability to empower and inspire even more individuals to embrace movement as a catalyst for personal development.

Active Lancashire's partnership with Empire Fighting Chance represents a significant stride in our mission to promote sport and physical activity across Lancashire. By harnessing the transformative power of non-contact boxing and personal support, we aim to empower individuals, especially young people, to unlock their true potential and lead more fulfilling lives. Through effective partnerships and dedicated staff, we will continue working tirelessly to embed sport and physical activity into every corner of our community.
