Beth Kay

Operations Manager (Sport) and Head of Training Centre

Hi I’m Beth and I manage relationships with our key stakeholders in the Central area (Preston, Chorley, South Ribble), as well as overseeing all activity concerned with our Sport England Primary Purpose contract which includes addressing our Workforce needs. I am also leading our #ALittlebitmore campaign which is to encourage Active Lancashire staff to engage in more physical activity during the working week and hopefully inspire other workplaces to follow suit.

I first started working with Active Lancashire back in 2005 on work placement during my studies at Sheffield Hallam University. I shadowed the Education and Skills Officer at the time, and then coincidentally once I completed my degree a year later, this job had become vacant. I was successful in my application and they haven’t been able to get rid of me since!

Since being with Active Lancashire I have undertaken a NVQ Level 5 in Managing Volunteers, Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies and many others along the way. All of which have provided me with the skills I have needed to progress to my current role.

On a personal level, I am a passionate Wigan Athletic supporter, I play netball on a weekly basis in Preston and also take part in lunchtime running at work! If that wasn't enough, being a mum to two young boys certainly keeps me on my toes and so I enjoy spending my weekends keeping them happy and meeting up with friends and family.
