Active Lancashire introduce the More Positive Together Volunteer Programme

Active Lancashire is launching a new programme that focuses on volunteering opportunities within the More Positive Together (MPT) Project.

The volunteer programme will form part of Active Lancashire's offering within the MPT project and will aim to encourage participants to volunteer.

MPT is a Lancashire-wide European Social funded project which helps 2,250 people to improve their skills and employment prospects. The project is a collaboration between housing associations, local authorities and third sector organisations, thus far the relationship is proving to be highly beneficial for Lancashire residents and communities.

The volunteer programme has been created to help improve the skills of the participants putting them in good stead for future job opportunities. The idea is that through volunteering participants are likely to develop their confidence, communication skills and problem solving capabilities, whilst also experiencing the working environment making employment seem far less daunting.

Active Lancashire will liaise with the Housing Associations to complete a registration form; this will allow the mentor to signpost the participant to the volunteer opportunities available. During the placement Active Lancashire will offer support to the Housing Association and provide a log book for the participant. There is a wide variety of opportunities spanning across multiple sectors from sports and leisure, through to care work. To help inspire the participants, Active Lancashire will offer rewards and incentives for the number of hours volunteered.

Working with the 11 partners from across the More Positive Together project, Active Lancashire will monitor the hours and progress, with the option of the participant completing an AQA Unit Award which lists set tasks that you can undertake during your placement.
