Established in 1996, Disability Equality NW is a user led disabled people’s organisation (DPO) providing a range of support services, events and activities to enable disabled people across the North West of England to live independently and be active in their local community.

They have a number of vacancy opportunities to join their team: 

Project Worker

We're looking for an organised and enthusiastic Project Worker to join our lottery funded 'Safety First' project, providing one-to-one casework support for disabled people and safety themed workshops/activities to help disabled people across Preston, South Ribble and Chorley manage risk and maintain their own personal safety. Project Co-ordinator

Disability Equality (nw) Ltd are looking for an experienced Project Co-ordinator to lead and develop their lottery funded ‘Safety First’ Project. The project started in December 2021, the aim of the project is to develop a consistent approach of services provided to disabled people who feel their safety is compromised through training to frontline workers, awareness raising, recruitment of volunteers, improving knowledge and understanding surrounding hate crimes and the impact on the individual and the local community, ensuring victims, their families and frontline workers are clear on the process and the support available. Specialist Adviser (for the deaf and hard of hearing community)

We are looking to recruit a specialist advisor to support deaf and hard of hearing people to access timely and up to date information and advice to enable them to live fulfilled, healthy and debt free lives. The post requires an in depth knowledge of key advice areas such as welfare benefits, employment, blue badge, equality laws and local support groups. Co-ordinator (Activities, Workshops & Events for disabled people) 

To provide a range of workshops, activities and co-production opportunities, for disabled people, carers and local groups, linked to the 12 pillars of Independent Living. To support local disabled people, to access relevant, and timely, support, through a range of workshops to enable them to live full and active lives. Independent Living Adviser

You will be responsible for providing initial set up and on-going information, advice and support – often in clients’ homes and over the telephone – to enable people in receipt of a direct payment from Lancashire County Council to use their budget to best meet their assessed care needs.
