While people and groups living in some parts of Lancashire can apply directly to the Active Lancashire Awards, others will first need to make an application to localised awards run in their area by their local council or associated groups earlier in the year.

This is because many winners of the local awards are later automatically shortlisted for the same category at the Active Lancashire Awards.

Additionally, a small number of local authorities run awards but ask for applications to be made via the Active Lancashire Award website.

Nominations are sought in the following categories:

  • Coach of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Activating Communities – Individual or Group
  • The Jimmy Armfield Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Primary School of the Year
  • Secondary School of the Year
  • Young Achiever of the Year
  • The Health and Wellbeing Award
