Pendle YES Hub

Pendle YES Hub is an employability and wellbeing service for 16-24 year olds in the Pendle area. It supports young people with accessing employment, education or training. The project also supports with the overall wellbeing of young people and aims to tackle their individual barriers and challenges through outreach support. Pendle YES Hub aims to improve young people’s confidence in securing jobs in the area. The service prioritises a tailored approach to each individual to support them in personal and professional development.

The project is currently funded by DWP until January 2022, and has successfully secured funding from the Nelson Town Deal which will ensure that young people of Pendle are supported for a further four years. The project is delivered by Active Lancashire and the main partners of the project are Pendle Borough Council, Job Centre Plus, Nelson & Colne College and Lancashire Adult Learning.

The Hub provides services and advice around a variety of issues, including homelessness, domestic abuse, nutrition, CV writing, interview skills. It also offers free sport and arts activities, wellbeing sessions and a variety of free courses, working with a wide range of local organisations to bring the best support for the young people of Pendle.

The hub has already helped over 20 young people secure employment since launching earlier in the year. It has launched a variety of activities throughout the year, including badminton, Virtual Reality sessions, music classes or Gym and Swim sessions.

As part of continued growth, Pendle YES Hub has celebrated becoming an official licensed centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award on the 1st of November. The award equips young people with the development of essential life and work skills. It is a recognised mark of achievement respected by employers.

Testimonies from Pendle YES Hub participants:

“I have pushed myself to come out of my comfort zone and got involved with activities I never thought I would have if it wasn’t for the support of the Hub. I can now leave the house and do normal day-to-day things, such as shopping rather than ordering things online and sitting around waiting.”

“The fact that the staff at the hub have been supportive and genuine people who care and want the best for individuals has helped me.”

Unique Beats (Music Session) on Mondays between 1pm and 2pm at the Pendle YES Hub.
Act As If (Effective Communication Skills through Drama) on Tuesdays between 2pm and 3pm at the Pendle YES Hub.
