Pendle YES Hub

Pendle YES Hub is an employability and wellbeing service for 16-24 year olds in the Pendle area. It supports young people with accessing employment, education or training. The project also supports with the overall wellbeing of young people and aims to tackle their individual barriers and challenges through outreach support. Pendle YES Hub aims to improve young people’s confidence in securing jobs in the area. The service prioritises a tailored approach to each individual to support them in personal and professional development.

Having secured funding from the Nelson Town Deal in 2022, the project is being delivered by Active Lancashire on behalf of Pendle Borough Council, with the Hub's other key partners being Job Centre Plus, Nelson & Colne College and Lancashire Adult Learning.

The Hub provides services and advice around a variety of issues, including homelessness, domestic abuse, nutrition, CV writing and interview skills. It also offers free sport and arts activities, wellbeing sessions and a variety of free courses, working with a wide range of local organisations to bring the best support for the young people of Pendle.

The hub has helped over 100 young people secure employment since opening in 2021 and has launched a variety of free activities for visitors; including badminton, Virtual Reality sessions, music classes and Gym & Swim sessions.

As part of continued growth, Pendle YES Hub celebrated becoming an official licensed centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award in November 2021. The award equips young people with the development of essential life and work skills. It is a recognised mark of achievement respected by employers.

Testimonies from Pendle YES Hub participants:

“I have pushed myself to come out of my comfort zone and got involved with activities I never thought I would have if it wasn’t for the support of the Hub. I can now leave the house and do normal day-to-day things, such as shopping rather than ordering things online and sitting around waiting.”

“The fact that the staff at the hub have been supportive and genuine people who care and want the best for individuals has helped me.”

Some of the activities delivered through the Hub are:
Unique Beats (Music Session) on Mondays between 1pm and 2pm at the Pendle YES Hub.
Act As If (Effective Communication Skills through Drama) on Tuesdays between 2pm and 3pm at the Pendle YES Hub.
Table Tennis Sessions every Wednesday between 10am and 12pm at Nelson Methodist Church.
Gym and Swim Sessions every Thursday between 4pm and 5pm at Wavelengths Leisure Centre.
Arts and Crafts Sessions every Friday between 2pm and 3pm at the Pendle YES Hub.
