Disability Sport in Lancashire

Lancashire Disability Sport Forum

This group consists of a range of strategic and operational partners who share best practice and look to influence partners to improve the opportunities for disabled people in sport. The group have developed a Terms of Reference and Strategic Plan to help guide their work. They have also created an Inclusive Checklist which is aimed at Mainstream Clubs who wish to tweak their current provision to offer more inclusive sessions. This is seen as a step before the EFDS Toolkit and ultimately the Club Mark process.

The group has also implemented a number of funding opportunities for disability clubs and organisations currently working with or looking to do more work with disabled people.

  • Open Day - if you are a club looking to host an Open Day to raise awareness of the inclusive opportunities your club has to offer then there is funding available to subsidise this. Complete the open day form to access up to £200 to cover your incurred costs.
  • Training Bursary - this bursary is accessible to any volunteer (16+) at a disablility club or organisation working with disabled people, who would like to attend a sports related course. Up to 50% subsidy is available, see the application form for further information.
  • ClubMark - if your club would like to achieve ClubMark, up to £100 is available to the club in order to assist you with possible costs incurred to achieve this standard. Please contact Paul Blythin for information on how to claim this.

If you have a vested interest in disability sport and would like to join the network, please contact Paul Blythin on pblythin@activelancashire.org.uk
