The places where people play sport have a really big impact on a person's experience and likelihood they will come back regularly. That’s why Sport England will be continuing to invest in all types of facilities, especially multi-sport for their major strategic investments.
£7.5m of funding for facilities will be launching in December 2016.
In December 2016, Sport England will:
- Launch the first phase of their new Community Asset Fund. If you’re an organisation looking to take over sports facilities, a sports club that wants to expand or you have a great idea for a project that’s clearly needed in the local community, then this could be the fund for you. £7.5 million will be available for single and multi-sport community facilities in this phase.
Based on similar projects Sport England have already supported, it is expected awards of between £5,000 and £150,000 will be made. You’ll be able to submit your bids from the beginning of January 2017. Sport England plan to make the first awards from April 2017 onwards.
In January 2017, Sport England will:
Publish their wider facilities investment guide, giving partners more information on the type of projects they’re looking to support, the people they want to benefit and the outcomes they are seeking to achieve.
The Sport England Strategic Facilities fund is already open and this fund will direct capital investment into a number of key local authority projects that are identified through a strategic needs assessment and that have maximum impact on growing and sustaining community sport participation. The fund will support projects that bring together multiple partners, including input from the public and private sectors and national governing bodies of sport (NGBs). The fund is also designed to encourage applicants and their partners to invest further capital and revenue funding to ensure sustainability.
