Active Lancashire Support Worker receives Highly Commended for Health Hero Award

Tamasin Lamb, a Support Worker on Active Lancashire’s Challenge Through Sport Initiative (CSI), has this week been awarded Highly Commended in the Health Hero category at this year’s Sunshine Awards.

The Sunshine Awards, now in their tenth year, are held to honour the good work being carried out by people, organisations and community groups in Morecambe and Lancaster. This year the ceremony took place at The Midland Hotel in Morecambe and featured a variety of awards from Lifetime Achievement to Unsung Hero.

Tamasin was shortlisted in the Health Hero category and went onto receive the Highly Commended Award for the hard work she has put in around the community over the past 12 months. Leigh Simpson, a volunteer on the CSI project, who submitted the nomination said, “Tamasin is a key member of the Morecambe Bay Community who tries to break down barriers for underrepresented groups in the area. She works tirelessly and has made a big impact in the community and on people's lives”.

Tamasin is a Support Worker on the Challenge Through Sport Initiative (CSI) project, a project which ran by Active Lancashire. CSI is an ambitious innovative partnership project which aims to encourage more active and healthier lifestyles for adults who might be in recovery, or battling mental health issues by getting involved in regular sport and physical activity. Tamasin began her journey with the CSI project as a participant and became a volunteer 4 years ago and through growing her skills and confidence, she has now successfully secured part time employment with Active Lancashire covering the Coastal area of Lancashire (Lancaster, Morecambe, Blackpool & Fleetwood).
