Prevent Delivery Officer

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council (BwDBC) is looking to recruit a Prevent Delivery Officer to provide training, deliver projects, build relationships with representatives from across the public, voluntary and faith sectors and improve the resilience of local communities to safeguard vulnerable individuals from extremism.

Based within the Community Safety Team at BwDBC, you will work with the Prevent Coordinator to implement initiatives to enable the successful delivery of the Prevent Action Plan across Lancashire. The role will require interaction with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and the successful candidate will fully understand and commit to the Council values and behaviours.


We are looking for someone with project management skills, an ability to design and deliver presentations, experience of engaging with diverse communities on challenging issues and ideally someone who has worked in a Community Safety or partnership orientated environment. Organised, dynamic and resilient you will have the skills and determination to deliver the objectives of the Prevent Duty against the backdrop of national and local scrutiny.


Although, the post holder will be based in Blackburn, this role will require frequent travel across Lancashire and to locations within the North West region and nationally hence a willingness and ability to travel is a must.
The post holder will be employed by BwDBC till 31st March 2021 (the role is subject to an annual review) and will be provided with specific training on how to deliver the tasks.
